October Team Meeting Notes

Thank you to all who attended Tuesday evenings TCI Team Meeting.  We were able to work through
many ministry items in a short time.  Primarily we had three items to address, Mission Trip, Mission Trip Fundraiser and
TCI Microfinance.

Microfinance:  Miles & Joel are working together to put together a reporting mechanism that will
work for Pastor Julio and give our board enough information to realize the status of each loan, to give
us a snapshot overview of how things are working.

Mission Trip Fundraiser:  The fundraiser is set for February 9th and we had several members step up to volunteer to help with the fundraiser. Nancy Lindemann will coordinate the Silent Auction again. Bill Sereduck will lead the kitchen and dinner crew with the help of the Men's Ministry. The entertainment area will be led by Chris Kiley.  There are several positions we need to fill: Ticket Sales Lead Person, Promotions/Communications, and Parking Lot coordination.  If you are interested in helping with any of these areas please let me know.  I prefer to work in teams so the work doesn't fall to only one person. So if you are interested, I will seek to get another person to work alongside you in any area.

Mission Trip: The mission trip is set for April 13-20
Teams we are considering are: Medical, Dental, ESL, Electrical-Alarm Installation, Sports Camp,
Music-Gospel Outreach

We are looking for leadership and for team members.  Application packets are on the welcome table
for those who may be interested.  You can pick one up or we can email one to you. If you have questions please email me or call me anytime.

Meeting closed at 7:45PM

Next Meeting will be held November 13th in the church library. Please plan to attend, your ideas are valued your prayers are coveted.

July 2012 Mtg Highlights

TCI Committee met on July 10th and reviewed and celebrated the recent Mission Trip and all God accomplished through the TCI team.  Each team member shared stories of their experiences and highlights through the week.  As we evaluated planning towards 2013 we decided because of the intense heat this past trip to move the 2013 trip back to Feb or April. With the latter the preference at this point.
New TCI elder representative Buck Coe was welcomed as was Chris Kiley the new TCI director. Ed Metcalf outgoing director was thanked for his service for the past two years. The October fundraiser was canceled and we are looking at dates in the first few months of 2013 to properly plan.  The August TCI meeting was canceled and we will resume our next regular meeting the second tuesday of September.

Batey 50 Brothers

Celebration with Wallingford In Batey50

This morning Pastor Julio and I will visit Batey 50 to see first hand DRMission Team from Wallingford CT's
50 for 50 building project. Hurricane proof houses are being built for 4400 US with donations from Connecticut and New England. The celebration is for the completion of the first houses the DR Mission Team has been building all week. We are hopeful this is a model for us in Consuelo. I will photograph the project and the people of Batey 50 to share with others.

Now that's a motorbike!

Red Sox sighting in San Pedro!

We took the kids for lunch to McDonalds and while we were there I had the chance to meet former Red Sox player Julio Lugo. Had a pleasant conversation and he asked what brought us to the DR? I explained TCI's mission and he expressed such gratefulness to us for our work to the Dominican people, his countrymen. Anyone who knows me knows I am a huge Red Sox fan and this encounter was just a small blessing from God.
Can't wait to see what he does next!

Time with our Kids

Today we got to spend the day with our Compassion Sponsor Children. It was exciting to meet Raylins Mom, Sister, Grandma and Aunt at their home. It was a sweet time together. We then had lunch together at McDonalds and the kids played in the playground.
Tonight is movie night at Mt. Zion where the Life of Christ is presented in the movie "Jesus"

Massage Therapist helps at Clinic!

Resident Message Therapist Kathy Kiley gave massages to all the Dental Team to help them get through their day. Dr. Flavia enjoys an afternoon massage. A little to the left, oh down a little Auh yes that's the spot! Thank you Kathy!!

San Pedro de Macoris visit today (Friday)

This morning we will visit CDC 401 in San Pedro. 7 team members sponsor children there. For some it will be the first time meeting their sponsored child. This visit we will get to meet their families at their homes and go to lunch together. Looking forward to a great day together.

Over 100 patients see Dentist on day one!

The TCI dental team saw over 100 patients today led by Dr Jane Russo and Dr Flavia. The ESL team had about 40-50 kids and teens learned new English skills. Many of the TCI team were also grateful for the Spanish they learned! We all learned together under the direction Professora Sue Wineland.
Thank you to all who prayed for team member Sharon Pierpont. She has made a miraculous recovery and is doing well God is good!

Morning Devotion

Miles read from John 15 this morning as we prepare to start our work "I am the vine and you are the branches he who abides in me will produce much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing" a good reminder to us that it's all about him and our connection to him that produces success or results.

Basement Systems Donates

Basement Systems employees generously donated dental supplies and did a shoe drive as well.  Some of the employees really got behind the drive and reached out to the friends and neighbors to see if they would like to participate.  Well, the Girl Scouts came through in a big way! As a matter of fact a young gal named Dylan took it upon herself to go the extra mile because her heart was moved to help and took her own money from savings to buy shoes to donate to TCI. Thank you Dylan and to her Mom Amy for your support and to Milly Zaleski & all the Basement Systems employees who all helped make this campaign a great success!!

TCI committee meets

TCI's Monthly meeting was held this evening at Trinity Church. The main focus was talking about the last minute details of the upcoming mission trip that will commence on the 23rd in two weeks. The mission focus seems to be moving forward and Miles announced the Lord has meet all the expenses and needs of the mission team.  We are so grateful for the Lord's people providing for this ministry.

Tonight was bitter sweet as we honored Ed Metcalf's leadership since the beginning of TCI's formation in 2009.  Ed will be stepping down July 1st from Ministry Director.  Ed provided leadership for the many projects that were started with our partner church in Consuelo, Dominican Republic.  It is with heartfelt thanks TCI thanks Ed & Sue for your friendship, your passion, hardwork and leadership and for TCI and the mission to the DR.

Stay tuned to this TCI blog for updates. Chris Kiley will provide a daily blog with pictures and ministry updates during the Team TCI mission from June 23-30th.  Please pray for the team for health, safety and the opportunity to share Jesus with others.
